The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 682

Even Leonardo did not know about that. Madelyn went to the swan lake at Ventrocloud High School. The sculpture in the middle of the lake which had its arm broken, had been repaired.

Back then, Ethan told her that there was a secret written at the back of the sculpture. She went to see it too. That secret was her name, Madelyn Jent.

When they met here back then, there was actually nothing at the back of the sculpture. The things that he said were all lies that he made up just to make her laugh.

After leaving the school, Madelyn heard the news that Ethan was getting married to Donna. On the street that Madelyn walked, the interview about their wedding date was playing on the roadside.

Next, she headed to Ventropolis University, where Kennedy, Mya, and Lem were all studying. Mya hadn’t bought her way into the university; she earned her admission through hard work. When Madelyn left, she had handed over all her notes to Mya.

Mya was already in her first year at university, but her habits hadn’t changed since high school. She was still a bit absentminded. She had a class to attend but realized she had left her textbooks in her dorm after she had already walked down from her dorm building. In a rush, she sprinted back upstairs to grab them.

Her friend was impatiently urging her and did not want to wait for her. Madelyn walked toward Mya’s new friend and said, “Wait for her! She’ll be down here very soon…”

That person glanced at Madelyn with a rather peculiar expression. By the time Mya returned, Madelyn had already left. Madelyn walked past the playfield as the cold wind blew at her. There was a lively basketball competition.

Kennedy and Lem were still the best buddies, and they always had a crowd of admirers wherever they went. Later, Madelyn used the time she had left to go to one last place. After doing what she wanted to do, she bought a direct flight ticket to Roshya.

She had gone back to Ventropolis just to have one last look. She did not know when she would be able to see them again after she left at that time.

At the Arnold residence, this place was nothing like it used to be. It appeared abandoned with wild grass growing freely. The rusty iron gate was opened allowing a black car to drive in.

Zach got out of the car. Kevin walked ahead to open the main villa’s door. As soon as they entered the house, they smelled the musty, spoiled smell of fermentation.

An old lady with gray hair was sitting with a hunched posture leaning on the sofa. She was Evelyn. The fireplace was burning. Evelyn was sitting by the fireplace warming herself.

In the past, the Arnold family enjoyed great prosperity in Ventropolis. But now, it felt like they had fallen from heaven to hell. Everything had changed so dramatically.

Marta came over with hot water. When she saw the visitors. She dropped the basin in her hand to the ground. She lifted the stick she was holding and pointed it at Zach, “Why are you here? Get out of the Arnold residence! You’re not welcome here!”

Kevin stepped forward to stand in front of Zach. He then stepped back after Zach waived his hand.

Zach walked forward to look down at the person sitting on the couch who had cloudy eyes. He said, “You do refuse to surrender. Five days have passed, have you made up your mind, Mrs. Arnold Sr.?”

Marta pushed Zach away and moved in front of Evelyn to protect her, “Mrs. Arnold Sr. doesn’t remember anything anymore. You’ve already gotten everything from the Arnold family. Isn’t that enough?!

“Do you have to drive everyone in the Arnold family to their deaths before you’re satisfied?

“Aren’t you afraid of karma for doing this?!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
