The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 601

“Even if you leave, you’ll always be the future Mrs. Arnold.”

“Don’t you get it? It’s not about our engagement. It’s about your responsibility as a man. Maybe we’re not right for each other; I wish you happiness,” Madelyn shook off his hand. “I lost the engagement ring. I’ll pay you back for it. Sorry, I really need to leave now.”

“No, Madelyn!” Pain shot through Ethan’s legs as he took a step, making him kneel on the ground.

“Mr. Arnold!”

“Ethan!” Donna also emerged upon seeing this.

“Daddy!”

Everyone hurried forward, but only Madelyn left. They did not realize her leaving meant a long farewell, and the Arnold family would never be the same.

Embarking on her journey back to Paris, Madelyn left with uncertainty, not knowing when or if she would ever return.

Jadie’s car accident left her with a minor leg fracture, requiring a month of bed rest before she could walk again. Zach learned that Madelyn had left Southern Haven Villas at nine in the morning. He sped in a black Audi to Ventropolis International Airport, frantically attempting to reach her by phone. His repeated calls were answered and then disconnected, leading to no response and a finally switched-off phone.

Zach asked the staff, “When is the earliest flight to Paris?”

The staff replied, “It just took off two minutes ago. The next quickest flight isn’t until 1:30 in the afternoon.”

If her choice to be with Ethan was wrong from the start, and it could not change the outcome between her and Zach, then she might as well start all over again this time. Nobody expected. Madelyn’s departure to leave no trace, making it impossible for anyone to find her.

After summer vacation, the college entrance exam results were released. Madelyn was the top scorer in Ventropolis, with Kennedy right behind her. As various media outlets

scrambled for an interview, they all hit a wall: Madelyn had gone abroad. Any trace of her was gone. It was like she disappeared into thin air. Her once- familiar phone number was now unreachable, and later, it was given to a new user.

Time can blur every memory of a person. A person’s face and voice will slowly fade from memory until all traces are gone.

Each month since Madelyn’s departure, Ethan retraced her steps. He visited the places she once visited, including art exhibitions and school libraries. He sent people everywhere to find her, staying wherever there was a hint of her presence. Four years had passed. For Madelyn, it was a fleeting moment.

September 2005, Luxembourg Park.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
