“I’m not doing well. People are inherently selfish. You disguised yourself for the sake of your future, and I have no choice but to betray you to get what I want, Ruby spoke, her words filled with realism. Her gaze, once innocent and passionate, now lacked those qualities.
The person standing before her was nothing more than a tool she could use to fulfill her basic needs for food and warmth People grow up and change.
Heather reached out, intending to scratch Ruby’s face. “How dare you!”
Ruby took a step back, picking up the microphone she had dropped on the ground. These past few days, she had been traveling day and night, even receiving death threats. She had endured all the challenges and difficulties up to this point for this very moment.
“My name is Ruby Langdon. I was once Rachel’s best friend. I can confirm that she has been an orphan since childhood. I can also verify the authenticity of those documents, as I have experienced all of those events alongside her!
The audience had witnessed so many shocking revelations today that they momentarily forgot to react.
All they knew was that the likelihood of Rachel being an imposter was growing increasingly larger. It was hard to imagine that she had manipulated the entire Olsen family.
Claudia’s head spun as her entire body trembled uncontrollably. She could only watch in despair as Rachel’s true identity was revealed, leading to the downfall of the Olsen family’s reputation.
She had a premonition, but she just wasn’t mentally prepared.
She was on the verge of collapsing onto the ground when a large hand reached out, steadying her and helping her stand upright.
Surprised, Claudia turned around and saw Dexter’s face. His gaze held a hint of indifference. Understanding dawned on Claudia. “When did you find out?”
Dexter remained polite as he said, “A few hours ago. I figured it out a bit earlier than you, but it was still too late. I should have guessed it two years ago.”
He should have guessed it from the very first moment he laid eyes on Josie.
Rachel scanned the room, looking disheveled.
She personified the agony of brutal rejection. Her fingers were gripped so tightly that they bled as she frantically sought a smart counterargument.
“You’re not going to bring up DNA again, are you?” Another female voice echoed from below the stage. Calvin, who had been drinking and enjoying the spectacle, immediately turned his attention toward the source of the voice upon hearing it.
It was indeed Mallory. She held a file in her hand, making her entrance with grace and poise.
“Ms. Strauss, truth be told, I didn’t want to come today. However, I thought it best to be prepared for any eventuality, so here I am. After all, the information I hold is more than enough to expose your lies!”
Mallory pulled out the documents and placed them in front of Rachel. “Do you see it? This is your DNA report.”
Rachel’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Take a look at this one too. It was this very report that allowed you to impersonate Liana. It should look quite familiar, shouldn’t it?”
That was the DNA maternity test for Josie and Claudia, confirming their blood relation to be ninety-nine percent.
Upon seeing this, Rachel immediately tried to snatch it away, but Mallory easily dodged her. She walked over to Justin and said, “When the test was first made, one copy was burned by Josie. She didn’t know that I had another one just in case of any unforeseen circumstances.”
Rachel looked at her back in despair.
Mallory presented the DNA test results for everyone to see. Everyone saw that Josie’s name was written on it.
Upon seeing the results on the screen, Claudia tightened her grip on Dexter’s hand. She felt as if her heart was being gnawed by ants. The pain was indescribable.
“It really is her…”
She didn’t notice Dexter’s indifferent face. His eyes were bloodshot. He was barely holding back, preventing himself from losing composure.
