The project that the Olsen family and Witherspoon Group collaborated on was named Serenity Project.
The project team had heard rumors of a new partner. Everyone had speculated it would be Laura, who had long held power in the Olsen family. However, when Josie arrived, they couldn’t help but feel a moment of disappointment.
Everyone looked at each other, bewildered. They didn’t recognize her. After all, she was a new face in the industry.
Juliette was dressed in professional office attire, and she had proper makeup on. With a smile, she said, “As you all know, Serenity Project is our first major project ever since we entered Wavery. We are fortunate enough to collaborate with the largest real estate merchant in Wavery, the Olsen family. This is their appointed representative, Josie Warren. She is a renowned architect, both domestically and internationally. Let’s give her a warm welcome!”
Applause echoed within the office, yet it was clear that confusion was present. Renowned both domestically and internationally? How have we never heard of her, then?
Josie gave a slight bow. “Hello everyone, my name is Josie Warren, but you can also call me Alice.” She then turned around and used a marker to write on the whiteboard: Alice.
“Alice? Sumanthova’s…” Everyone exchanged glances, momentarily unable to pinpoint what was amiss..
Josie exchanged a glance with Juliette and said, “That’s right, I am the Alice you know of. I appreciate your future care.”
The moment she extended her hand, the office erupted into a frenzy.
“Holy f*ck! It’s really Alice!”
“Why is such a bigwig down here mingling with us common folks all of a sudden?”
“I mean, who would’ve thought I’d get to see Alice’s true face in my lifetime?”
With a resigned smile, Josie raised a finger to her lips. “I revealed my identity because I consider everyone here as my own. But remember, it’s crucial that we keep this among ourselves.”
Considering her status, the employees nodded in agreement, one after another.
After joining the project team, everything at work went smoothly.
There was a reason why Alice’s status could attract a multitude of followers. It was due to her outstanding abilities. She was concise and efficient, and no one harbored any other thoughts about her.
After a long time without having to work a regular job, Josie was suddenly thrust into a nine-to-five routine. She found it hard to adjust. As a result of her busy schedule, she went several days without meeting Dexter.
In fact, she didn’t even see Mark and Claudia.
She would return to Olsen Residence at ten o’clock, and not a soul was in sight. However, there was always a warm meal waiting for her on the table.
One night, the housekeeper said softly, “Mrs. Olsen is very fond of you.”
After trying a bite of the dish, Josie’s mouth was filled with a bitter taste. She responded, “Perhaps.”
Every day, Dexter would send updates about Paul’s condition. He was then under the care of. the Olsen family. In return, she would visit the Olsen family daily. It was a form of mutual exchange.
Over the course of a week, Josie did not respond to any of Dexter’s messages.
Juliette wasn’t often at the company, but she would occasionally return to have lunch with Josie. She was a workaholic, and throughout the meal, she would inevitably talk about work. Josie would often sigh and find Juliette’s commitment to her work rather impressive.
Yet one day, Juliette’s words suddenly shifted to something else. “How about you accompany me out after dinner?”
“Where to?”
“I’m bringing food for my friend, who happens to be working nearby.”
Josie choked on a mouthful of food. It was stuck in her throat, unable to go up or down, and she coughed for a good while.
Juliette swiftly brought over some water. “What’s the matter? You didn’t meet my friend last time. There might be opportunities for collaboration in the future, so it wouldn’t hurt to meet in advance.”
Josie’s face turned beet red, choked up by the question. She stuttered, “You can go ahead… D-. Do I really need to?”
Juliette gave the food box a little shake and flashed a bright smile. “Of course.”
Ever since that day, Josie had not seen Dexter. Part of it was a deliberate avoidance. After all, she didn’t want to admit that she had fallen for him.
