71- Her property
“Abigail! Tomorrow, there would be a charity ball from our biggest business rival. We both need to be there.” Hunter said while still engrossed in his laptop.
“Would it be okay if I reach the office late tomorrow? … I mean more late than usual?”
She was in bed, ready to sleep in his t- shirt and cotton shorts.
“Yes, why?” Hunter raised his face from the laptop.
“I need to go shopping.” He regarded her for a few seconds and then closed his laptop. For some unknown reason, he seemed happy.
“Take the car and driver with you. He would accompany you throughout.”
“You mean the whole time? Why?” she asked while going through her messages.
“For security.” He said while climbing on the bed. “I would leave my credit card. You would get yours in around two days.”
Putting aside her phone, she sat up not understanding a thing, “Credit card? But no, Hunter. I have got my own money.”
She wanted to buy something sexy for the ball. The idea was to lure him. Seduce him. It was time to act on Molly’s advice.
“I know, darling. Let me take this responsibility.” He held her hand.
“You have already done a lot for me. However, this is too much.” She did not know how to convince him.
“No, this is not too much.” Holding her face he turned it towards him. “Abi, look at me, sweetheart. Here.” He raised it a little for better eye contact. ” You are the one taking care of me in every possible way. In-office you are on your toes, here we have a chef but you cook dinners and breakfasts for me. Did I ever ask you not to do it?”
“This is different, Hunter. Cooking meals and taking care of the office is not the same as handing over your credit card to me.” She pointed out.
“It is. How it can be different, honey? Please don’t say no. Please, sugar. Plus I am staying at your place. This house belongs to you.” He tried to remind her.
Instead of saying anything, she just gave him a blank look. He went to his study table and took out a folder, “Here. Hold this. This was your wedding gift or have you forgotten?”
“What? Hunter! That was supposed to be…” she stopped herself in time.
“Fake?” he smiled. “That was not fake. It belongs to you. The folder has got the papers for this house and your showroom. Both of them belong to you.”
She did not know how to react. The mansion and showroom must cost a fortune.
“Why are you doing this, Hunter?”
“To secure your future. I know you don’t need my money. But if something happens to me then I don’t want you to worry about anything.” He kissed her hand. “If I would die then my personal and joint accounts would freeze automatically. You won’t get excess to any of it for a certain period, till then there should be sufficient amount in your bank account. And personal property would be a good investment. It would let you live decently if you plan to sell it out.”

She could not think beyond that. Kyle never showed her this care. He was alive, yet he left Abigail in tatters that she could not even take her rightful share.
Whereas, Hunter was a contract husband. But he was making sure that she should be able to survive without him.
“Hunter, you do know that I don’t need this money.” There was sadness in her voice. “It’s your friendship and companionship that matters most.”
“I am not going anywhere, Abigail. But you can’t predict the future. Nobody can. I don’t want you to worry about anything ever again.” Taking a deep breath he smiled. “Hey, coffee girl! Cheer up! And please accept this card.”
She stayed quiet for a minute, then taking a deep breath she laid back. ” Ok.”
She said half-heartedly.
With relief, Hunter kissed her forehead, “Thank you.”
