52- Mad at him.
She was in bed still thinking about what Rafael had said, smiling to herself. Patricia would surely faint once she would fill in all the details of their date. Though he was Chloe’s favorite too but she just did not want to think about it.
Clutching her pillow to her chest, she turned and found Hunter who was there beside her, staring down at her intently. “You seem happy.” He commented.
“Because I am.” She said softly, shrugging her shoulders.
“You are missing him.” It was a statement.
“I think, I am. Is your whole family like this? They all are sweethearts?” He could not suppress his smile.
“Don’t know about them but you are definitely one!” he grinned lazily pinching her nose.
“I am happy that I met Rafael.” She bit her lower lip without realizing.
He propped up on an elbow “Let’s make you happier then.” “Really? And how would you do that?”
“My grandparents are flying in tomorrow from Manhattan.”
“Oh?” She didn’t know why she panicked so much. She sat up straight in bed.
“And you are telling me now?”
“Yes, because they confirmed just this evening.” He sat up a little alarmed. “Why you look so frightened, Abi?”
“Hunter what if they don’t like me?” “But their grandson does like you.” He pointed out. “But their grandson is my fake …” When he flinched, she stopped herself in time. She had totally forgotten that Hunter asked her not to use that word. “Sorry Hunter. It just slipped my mind.” Hunter was quiet then turning to the other side, he asked her to go to sleep. She was ashamed, though it was not intentional. But she did not want to hurt Hunter.
Since her childhood she had seen people taking advantage of her for being kind and giving. But in their case, Hunter was the one always giving to her without asking for anything. She hadn’t given him much. Except her business. An under developed one.
Him being a billionaire that small wooden furniture showroom was not at all worthy. But he did take it as if it was worthwhile. She could never imagine to ever hurt him or cause him any pain.
I need to tell him. I need to tell him this, that I value our friendship a great deal. She turned to him and then heard him snoring very lightly. She felt disappointed.

I would definitely ask for his apology tomorrow. Abigail Mason would not become Chloe or Kyle. She would remain Abigail. 1

As usual Hunter had left before she woke up. Even after a good night’s sleep she felt dull and tired. On her way to office she bought two cups of coffee. When she reached her office, Hunter was not there. May be he was in a meeting in the conference room. Placing a coffee cup on his desk, she put a small chit of paper under it, saying, Sorry Hunter! She wanted to write ‘love you’but obviously she could not explain it to Hunter that she does love him and respect him just as she did to Molly. Busy in her tasks, her gaze had been falling on his chair and desk Where are you Hunter? I am missing you.
She felt sad. She could not stay in the office any longer so she went out.

“Hello Abigail.” Ava greeted her cheerfully but when she did not get same sunny response she looked at Abi with concern. “All is well, Abi? You alright?” “Yes, I am.” Then after a pause she gave a humorless chuckle. “I am just missing, Hunter.” “Aww… You two are goals, Abigail. I find you people cute.” But Abi could not even smile at that. “Mr. Hunter won’t be here before evening.” That statement caught Abi’s attention. “What? Evening? Where is he?” Shooting her a strange glance, Ava smiled, “He is not in office. He is away with Ann for some important deal.”
“But I think his grandparents are coming this evening. No?” “No it’s postponed. His grandmother is not well so they might come after two days.” Listening to that Abi went quiet. She felt hurt. Hunter could have told her that. The fact that a receptionist knew about him better than his fiancé. “I think I would leave now. Need to visit the bank and then my mom after that.” Giving her a polite smile and a nod she left. She was mad at him and right now she did not want to see his face. If he was furious last night for something let it be. When she reached her mom’s place, she started fuming inside seeing Chloe and Alex there. ?
Geena was beaming at the unexpected get together of both sisters. “This is so good just like old times.” Ignoring her remark she just sat there without acknowledging them much. “Sorry to drop by unannounced, mom.” “Don’t be silly! Where is Hunter? Ask him to join us.” “He is busy mom.” She said with a faint smile. “I would prepare your favorite pasta sweetie.” With that Geena headed to the kitchen. So many memories flooded back about Kyle, ever since she went to bank. How much they were happy. How delightful was the experience when they finally found the house within their
budget. 1
But all that time, whenever he was with her, he was screwing Chloe on her back. Actually they both were screwing. What a fool she had been! She thought with a side smirk. 2
“Thinking about Hunter? Missing him? I hope you are not getting into this marriage for some other motive. Like a revenge kind of thing… You know?” she heard Chloe’s snide remark. “Ethically, it’s not alright to ask me whom do I want to marry. But ethically it is also NOT ok to steal someone’s boyfriend. But sorry!” she chuckled without humor. “Who am I talking to about ethics? Right?” with that she gave a careless look to Chloe and stood up gracefully.
Kyle seemed happy because both the sisters were fighting over him.
“One more thing I forgot to mention.” She threw a glance on his amused face and Chloe’s furious one, “If a boyfriend is a douchebag then I guess, it’s ok to cheat and take him off my back. It becomes a blessing in disguise. So thank you Chloe for taking him. I am better without
him.”
She enjoyed the desired expression on their faces and took a sigh of relief. Geena had gone to kitchen but Abi knew that she must have heard every word.
She entered the kitchen and started wearing an apron when Geena turned to her. “I am so proud of you, Abi.” Her voice was painfully soft. But Abigail had to keep it together. She didn’t want to show any kind of weakness to any of them. With a bright smile she winked at Geena, “I would do the salad mom.”

Kyle and Chloe were still in the living room. Geena was done with the pasta. Abigail had cut the vegetables. Now she just had to assemble everything when she heard the doorbell first and then some commotion in the living room. She kept doing her business.
She wanted to keep herself busy. Not because of Chloe and Kyle but Hunter Levisay. Sighing to herself she put the big wooden bowl on the counter, when two arms tied around her waist and a heavy male voice sounded very close to her ear, “Hey, sugar.”
She spun around to look at him. Her heart was beating faster, and she was so much overjoyed to see him that without thinking anything she just hugged him tightly. “Hunter!”
He inhaled her smell audibly making her smile. But then she remembered about how mad she was at him. Frowning a little, she pushed him away and turned around to complete her salad.
But he did not go away, instead he stayed closer and held her from behind pulling her to his hard body, “Missed me, sugar?” She could feel his warm breath on her ear.
No reply.
“Sugar!” Still no reply, she kept shifting and mixing the salad in the bowl. Holding her shoulders, he turned her around and kissed her forehead, and after the kiss he did not move his lips and kept them there. Abigail stayed like this. The feeling was so heartwarming, she felt so contented. Geena cleared her throat before entering the kitchen. “Hunter, we would serve the dinner in
ten minutes.”
“Perfect Mom. Till then we would go to the backyard” his eyes were still on her face. “I need some privacy with my wife to be.”
