45- Love When she reached office her mood was gloomy for some reason. Greeting everyone on her way, she reached her cabin ignoring everyone’s curious glances towards her. Hunter’s orders!” Abigail rubbed her forehead. They already respected her a lot because of being Hunter’s fiancé, she did not want to sound bitchy. “Sorry, Jian. My apologies. I guess Hunter must have told me, it must have slipped my mind.” They all nodded in unison. She did see Chloe passing her a snide smile but right now her mind was on Hunter. Hunter Levisay!!!!
You are doomed! She was going to Hunter’s office when Ava, the receptionist called her, “Miss Abigail! Hunter is not there in his office.” She had a professional smile on her face. “Ava, how many times should I tell you… it’s only Abigail? And where is he, by the way?” Ever since Ava had come to know that she and Hunter were engaged, she had started calling her Miss Abigail. UTILI “He came in the morning for a short while, gave some instructions and then left with Mrs. Ann for a company visit.”!. “Ok” She said with a forced smile on her face.
Roaming around casually she went to the medical room. Dr. Debbie’s face lit up seeing her. “Abi!” she stood up from her seat. Abigail hugged her and then sat on a chair. “Coffee?” Debbie asked her but she shook her head, “No, I just had one.” “So … how come you are here? Usually you are too busy with your work! As Hunter’s fiancé you don’t need to work much.”.
“As a fiancé and as an employee I do need a space to work. But I guess I lost it!” her lips formed a thin line.
“Oh? Lost it?” Debbie raised her eye brows. “Who took it from you?”
“I guess … Hunter!” She rolled her eyes. Debbie laughed, “And I guess Hunter is in trouble now?”
“Wanna bet on it?” her phone started ringing, she cancelled the call and looked at Debbie smiling
“You can take the call, you know? Is it Hunter?”
“Yeah, it’s him. But I am happy here, enjoying your company.” Then she looked around. “No patient today?”
“No, most of the time it’s either office staff or hotel guests. But no cases today. Until now!” she shrugged.
Abi’s phone again started ringing. She cancelled the call again.
Damn you Hunter!
Abi’s left hand was under her chin when Debbie’s eyes fell on her engagement ring. “Your ring is just amazing. I like it a lot.” She said softly making Abi smile. “That day when you and Hunter came to my room and the way you two were teasing each other… I knew, that there is something going on between you two.” “Going on? There was nothing going on at that time.” Abi giggled biting her lower lip in her teeth.
“Oh shut up. Hunter never ever behaved like this around anyone.” “Behave Like what?”
“Like he really cares for someone.”
“But he does care for everyone.” “No, he genuinely cares for you.” “He genuinely cares for every one, Debbie!”
“Yes, he does. But his eyes never leave you. Whenever, you are around. It seems he can’t seem to let you go.” Hunter is really a very good actor. He promised me that he would make us look like a real couple and he has achieved it. Wow! He does deserve the credit. May be an Oscar!
Her phone beeped, it was a message from Hunter.
(Sugar! Where are you? Come to my office.]
“Office! My ass!” she muttered under her breath but Debbie heard her and started laughing. Abigail also joined her. The door opened and somebody entered the room. Abi turned back to find Rafael looking at them. “Dr. Debbie! We don’t pay you to laugh. You are fired!” Debbie frowned and muttered under her breath, “Fired! My ass!”
Rafael could not hear her but Abi did. They both started laughing again. Rafael was a little astonished so he sat there with them waiting for their laughter to subside.
“What was that about?” he asked raising an eyebrow.
“Nothing. Just a girl thing.” Debbie tried to dismiss it with the wave of her hand. He eyed them suspiciously. “A girl thing! Huh!”
“I was telling Abigail that when I met her first time, I knew she and Hunter were into each other.”
Rafael sighed at that. “I don’t know how she ended up with that devil while a prince charming was waiting for her to sweep her…
“Shut up.” Abigail gave him a playful punch which he caught playfully. “Seriously, Abi. I am ready. Whenever you want to change your mind just let me know.”
“Shut the fu*ck up. By the way, how old are you? Seventeen? Eighteen?” she teased with a straight face. His mouth hung open at that. “What! No! Twenty one!” “He is a liar, Abi. Don’t believe him. He is twenty!” Debbie said in a mocking tone.
“So? It’s almost same!” he protested. “No, it’s not.” Debbie said putting her tongue in her cheek. “I would be twenty one! Soon! Ok!” he stomped his foot. “He is right” said a deep male voice behind them “And that ‘soon’ would happen around after ten months. Or may be nine?” Hunter entered the room with a small smile playing on his lips. “Think of the devil…” Rafael rolled his eyes while muttering under his breath. Abigail gave him a warning look 1 “Hunter, I think, I know what brings you here.” Debbie said mischievously looking from Hunter to Abigail and then went forward to hug him. Hunter kissed her cheek while hugging back Then turning to Abigail, he helped her to stand. Pulling her closer, he kissed on her lips making her a little breathless.
“Sugar! I had been looking for you, asking everyone like crazy. Why you were ignoring my calls? Hmm?” while tucking her hair strand behind her ear, he was talking to her so gently that even Rafael was awestruck by their chemistry. For the first time, Abigail noticed Rafael Wyatt looking so serious. Ignoring him she held Hunter’s hand. “We need to talk. Ok? I am angry!” Hunter frowned a little, “Very angry!” She tried to warn him.
Putting his arm around her shoulders, he started walking towards the door, “If you are angry then we should talk about it now, sweetheart!”
Rafael was quick to speak, “Hunter you have got a meeting scheduled right now! Executives from other companies are there waiting for you in the conference room.” Turning around on his heels, Hunter gave him a meaningful smile, “Seriously, Rafael! What happened to your charms! Keep those people busy for some time, I would be there as soon as Abi is done.”
With that his arm still around Abi, he left the room. Rafael took a deep breath, “This man has transformed. Completely changed. What got into him?”
Rafael looked at Debbie, even she was flabbergasted. Debbie shrugged before opening her file, “Love does change people!”
“Love?” Rafael looked at her wide eyed. “Love!” Debbie nodded. A slow grin made its way on Rafael’s lips. Good God! Our devil has fallen in love!
