Chapter 28 Mr Huo Seems Angry
Yan Wan hurriedly exited the president’s office and only caught her breath after a long time. Her face was still burning.
She had to hurry up and finish the design. Who knew what other embarrassing things she would end up doing in Huo Lichen’s office?
The design department staff had more or less left the office. Yan Wan headed to the department to grab her other belongings. To her surprise, Mu Ziyi was still there.
He was playing games out of boredom.
Yan Wan approached him, “Why haven’t you left?”
It was understandable if he had stayed to work, but she could not understand why he stayed to play games.
Mu Ziyi kept his phone away and replied, “I was waiting for you.”
He teased her, “Didn’t you promise to treat me to dinner?”
Since Yan Wan had a traumatic experience at Huo Lichen’s office, she had indeed forgotten about it.
She laughed embarrassedly, “Yes, of course. Let’s go. What do you want to eat?”
Mu Ziyi asked, “Do I get to choose?”
“Of course. I’ll go wherever you want.”
“I’ll bring you somewhere special then.”
Yan Wan and Mu Ziyi chatted happily as they left the office.
They hailed a cab and headed to Mu Ziyi’s choice of restaurant.
The cab had just left when a Lamborghini stopped outside the office.
Wei Qi was anxious and stared nervously at Huo Lichen through the rearview mirror.
Mr. Huo had just left work and even drove to the entrance to pick Yan Wan up.
However, the moment they reached, Yan Wan had left chatting merrily with another man.
He asked in trepidation, “Boss, Ms. Yan has left. Where should we go now?”
The man at the back seat pursed his lips and had an icy expression on his face.
He replied coldly, “Home.”
Wei Qi turned the steering wheel and felt the crushing atmosphere in the car. Mr. Huo seems to be angry…
Mu Ziyi brought Yan Wan to a secluded restaurant with few patrons. It was therefore peaceful and quiet.
The environment was especially good.
It was modern, slightly luxurious and dignified. It even had a kind of refreshing comfort to it as well.
Yan Wan fell in love with this place at first sight.
Mu Ziyi brought Yan Wan to a window seat, “If you need a quiet place for inspiration in the future, you can always come here.”
Yan Wan could not help but comment, “This is such a great place! How did you find out about it?”
“When I used to draw, I liked to have a quiet and graceful environment. I kept running around looking for such places. Then one day, I found this place.” Mu Ziyi smiled, but his eyes showed a sliver of pain and melancholy.
He used to be a regular here…
Yan Wan was admiring the decorations and did not notice Mu Ziyi’s expression. So she casually asked, “Why did you stop drawing?”
Back then, Mu Ziyi had finished the entrance exams and had emerged as the top scorer.
However, before he officially enrolled at the university, he became an exchange student and studied another major in Europe. He had only returned three months back.
That was one of the reasons why Yan Wan had not seen him since then.
Mu Ziyi’s expression stiffened as he said wistfully, “Not everyone is in control of their own lives.”
Yan Wan was confused by his words. She could sense that there was a sad story behind Mu Ziyi’s cheerful smile.
Although she was curious, she did not probe further.
“What would you like to eat?”
Yan Wan was about to pass the menu to Mu Ziyi when a surprised female voice called out, “Ziyi, I’ve finally found you!”
Mu Ziyi’s smile froze as his expression seemed to break down.
A beautiful woman with chestnut-colored long hair had showed up. She was in a branded red dress. It looked tailored to her body and was truly tight-fitting. She looked dazzling and elegant in it like a stereotypical, fashionable city woman.
She trotted over on her high heels.
When she saw Mu Ziyi, she broke down in tears. Her voice seemed to choke on her tears as she cried and said, “The moment I found out that you have returned, I flew over! I came here hoping to meet you, and here you are! Ziyi, this is the place we first met. The fact that you find this place nostalgic means you still care about me, right?”
Mu Ziyi sat upright. His body seemed especially rigid.
After a few moments, he slowly raised his head with an indifferent expression, “Wang Ningwei, you’re just a stranger to me now. Please leave. Don’t disturb me when I’m having a meal.”
Wang Ningwei seemed to have anticipated this reaction and bit her lip. She took a seat beside him.
Leaning forward, she said gently yet firmly, “Ziyi, I just can’t let go of you. I love you, and I won’t give up on you whether you forgive me or not. This time, I’ll be the one courting you. I’ll make it up to you and make sure that you change your mind about me!”
Yan Wan understood at this point that this woman was Mu Ziyi’s ex-girlfriend.
From the looks of it, they had a complicated history.
In this scenario, she felt that she should not stay here as an outsider. So she got up and prepared to give them some space.
Just as she was about to leave, Mu Ziyi grabbed her wrist.
His grip was forceful and there seemed to be a strong determination within it.
Then, he got up and hugged her as if they were an intimate couple.
“Wang Ningwei, I already have a girlfriend.”
Yan Wan froze and her lips started trembling.
Am I… being used as a shield?
Wang Ningwei’s expression fell as she stared at Yan Wan in disbelief.
She was sure that Mu Ziyi had only ever loved her.
Mu Ziyi’s eyes darkened when he saw Wang Ningwei’s broken expression. He gripped Yan Wan even tighter as though to suppress a certain emotion.
Yan Wan clenched her teeth and frowned in pain.
She was perplexed. What’s going on between them? It seems that Mu Ziyi still loves this woman.
Mu Ziyi stared at Wang Ningwei without any expression and said in an icy tone, “Don’t ever come to look for me again.”
After saying that, he dragged Yan Wan away.
Wang Ningwei watched the two of them leave. Her body tensed up, and she felt more bitterness than sadness.
I’ll never give up on Mu Ziyi no matter what.
That woman…
She glared maliciously at Yan Wan’s silhouette.
As they exited the restaurant, Mu Ziyi let go of Yan Wan and his handsome face looked tired.
“Sorry for calling you my girlfriend earlier.”
“It’s alright. I understand.”
Yan Wan looked at Mu Ziyi and noticed that he had a melancholy expression. He obviously still has feelings for that woman.
She questioned him out of curiosity, “Why did you two break up if you still love each other?”
