The spectators fell silent as Levi’s body collapsed on the ground. Shock and disbelief were written on every face, and they didn’t expect the match to end so quickly. In the blink of an eye, the winner had been decided.
“I didn’t imagine that, right? Levi, the Boulderthorn branch master, was killed in seconds?”
“With just a finger in the air, Levi was killed. Glenn didn’t even draw his sword. His strength is terrifying.”
“So, is that the strength of the Legendary List’s top rank? It’s downright terrifying.”
After a brief silence, the venue erupted in shock and chatter.
When Levi stepped onto the battle ring with his spear, everyone had expected a long, hard-fought match. After all, he was a renowned figure in the martial world and recognized as a master no matter where he went.
Even if Levi couldn’t match Glenn’s skill, he should have lasted a few rounds at least. But what happened? Throughout the whole bout, Glenn had only made one move.1
Before everyone could even process what was happening, Levi was already dead. The strength difference between them was like night and day.
“I didn’t expect Glenn to be this strong. This is bad news.” Aurora frowned, and her expression turned serious.
Earlier, she had hoped Levi could force Glenn to show some of his techniques, but the outcome was completely unexpected. She hadn’t uncovered valuable information besides Glenn’s immense strength.
“He just killed a grandmaster with a finger. There aren’t many here who could do that.” Alicia shook her head with a complicated expression.
Without a massive disparity in skill level, it would have been impossible to achieve such a feat. She was worried that Glenn had broken through to the ultimate grandmaster level. Compared to his peers, he was light years ahead.
At that thought, Alicia glanced at Fenley beside her. Though exceptionally gifted and incredibly insightful, he had yet to reach the ultimate grandmaster level.
If he faced Glenn now, the chances of losing were high. The gap between them might be small, but even a slight difference could make all the difference.
“He’s definitely a tough brat,” Fenley muttered as his eyes locked on Glenn in the ring.
He was surprised, but his gaze showed no hint of fear. Instead, he was filled with a fighting spirit. The stronger the opponent, the more it pushed his limits. He planned to use this Combat Tournament to break through his barriers and rise to the top.
“Dr. Rhys, surely you’re feeling some pressure now, right?” Grace glanced at him and smiled.
“This is beyond pressure. It’s like he’s set on taking everyone down.” Dustin sighed, and his head began to throb.
The swordmaster’s strikes were devastating, and Glenn was among the best of them. Once they drew their sword, it was kill or be killed. Hence, facing an opponent like that was enough to give anyone a headache.
“Mr. Marshall, did you see that? That’s what real talent and strength look like.
“Cyrus said with a rare smile. He teased, “How does your disciple measure up to mine?”
“Hmph! We’ll find out who is stronger after tomorrow’s match.” Alloy scoffed, and his expression darkened.
Though he hated to admit it, he knew that Fenley’s current cultivation level wasn’t enough to compete with Glenn. Without a breakthrough to become an ultimate grandmaster, Fenley couldn’t stand a chance.
“As the saying goes, a wise person adapts to the times. If you don’t want your disciple to be defeated in the battle ring, you’d better plan ahead,” Cyrus said with a sly grin.
Alloy understood his underlying message that planning ahead meant conceding. His face stayed stern as he remained silent. With just one day left, he needed to help Fenley break through to the next level before the next match began.
“The match is over. The winner is contestant number two, Glenn Hadley. Congratulations.” After a moment of daze, Oron quickly announced the results.
“Too easy.” Glenn glanced at Levi’s body, then turned and walked away. With his match concluded, he saw no point in staying and would rather return to training.
After a short break, Oron returned to the battle ring and announced, “The third match is about to begin. Contestant number three and contestant number 14, please come to the ring.”
As he finished speaking, a striking figure soared up from the crowd. The figure floated above the ring before. gently descending.
With flowing white hair, an elegant figure, and an ethereal beauty, it was none other than Abigail, the Grand Sorceress of the Mystic Arts Order.
“It’s my turn!”
A booming laugh suddenly filled the venue, followed by a burly figure shooting through the air like a cannonball. He covered 100 yards in a single leap before crashing heavily onto the battle ring.
There was a loud boom, and the impact left two large footprints on the ring’s surface.
The spectators focused their gaze and finally realized the contestant who had just entered the ring was George Burroughs, the foreign contestant with a gorilla-like build. His nickname was the Dusk Titan.
