After all that tough talk, Julie hesitated. If she stepped back now, she would be like shooting herself in the foot. How could she show her face in the social circle after that? Just as she felt lost, a crisp voice cut through the tension.
“Ms. Amberson, why use a sledgehammer on a mosquito? Leave this small-time troublemaker to us.”
Two sharply dressed, beautiful young women strolled in side by side. The one in red exuded arrogance-it was Eleanor Welch! The one in white radiated a cold demeanor-it was Elena Forrest, who had crossed paths with Dustin.
Back in Millsburg, down in the Southern Province, these two first crossed paths in kindergarten. Then, they ran into each other again at General Murray’s estate stables, causing quite a ruckus. Little did they know that after all these years, they’d meet again right here.
“Ms. Forrest?” Julie’s face brightened upon seeing them. Her backup had arrived.
“Ms. Amberson, let me introduce you. The lady by my side is the Welch family’s heiress and my close friend.”
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Welch,” Julie said, extending her hand. Only those from elite families like her could be considered friends.
“Hello, Ms. Amberson,” Eleanor greeted with a friendly smile and continued, “Ms. Amberson, it seems you’ve run into trouble. Do you need our help?”
“Just ran into a bit of a nuisance. I was about to handle it, but you two showed up right on cue,” Julie replied casually.
“Ms. Amberson, relax. He won’t stir up any big waves with the two of us here!” Elena said confidently. She then turned to Dustin and, with a cold tone, said, “Rhys! Are you surprised to see us again? Millsburg was your turf, and I never had the chance for revenge.
“Now that we’re on my turf, isn’t it time we settle the score?”
“Oh? How do you plan to settle it?” Dustin raised an eyebrow.
“Firstly, apologize to Ms. Amberson and beg for her forgiveness. Secondly, apologize to me and beg for my forgiveness.
“Lastly, apologize to Eleanor and beg her forgiveness. Once you’ve done all that, we’ll consider sparing you,” Elena said arrogantly.
“Apologize? Are you out of your mind?” Dustin chuckled.
“Rhys, I advise you to think before you answer,” Elena threatened. “I represent the Forrest family, Eleanor represents the Welch family, and Ms. Amberson represents the Moseys.
“Two of us are from elite families and one from an ancient house. In Oakvale, who can contend with us? If you don’t want to die miserably, follow our orders!”
These words caused quite a stir around them.
“Whoa! This guy is fearless! He actually offended so many influential families in one go?”
“Two elite families and an ancient house! How is he going to survive that?
“If it were me, I’d probably be scared stiff.”
Whispers filled the air, and everyone looked at Dustin with a mix of admiration and, more prominently, sympathy. He might have a grim tomorrow if he didn’t make amends with these three heiresses today.
“Two elite families and an ancient house may sound intimidating. But unfortunately, the three of you still can’t represent your own families,” Dustin replied calmly.
“So, are you going to resist to the end?” Elena squinted.
“And what if I do? Do you really think you’ve got me figured out?” Dustin remained unfazed.
“I advise you not to provoke me. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”
“Hmph! Enough of your bullshit!” Elena snorted.
“Since you’re so ignorant, don’t blame me for what will happen! Guards, give him a good beating! Beat him until he begs for death!”
