Chapter 792 Visit
Seconds ticked into minutes, extending deeper into the night. In the end, Tessa fell asleep on the couch without knowing it.
…
The second day, when Tessa woke up, she found a blanket draped over her, and Gregory was keeping watch by her side. She sat up and couldn’t help asking, “Greg, is your daddy home?”
“I didn’t see Daddy coming back.” Gregory shook his head.
Tessa frowned and got up to look for Andrew. “Nicholas never came back last night?”
“He didn’t come back, but he did call home. He said the company was attacked, and then he told me to remind you to take your meals regularly.”
Andrew reported truthfully, then asked, “Miss Tessa, breakfast is ready. Would you like to have breakfast now?”
Even though Tessa was worried about Nicholas, she also knew that she wouldn’t be of much help. Therefore, she could only take care of herself so that Nicholas wouldn’t have to worry about her.
“Serve the breakfast, then. I’ll come and eat after washing up.”
Afterward, Tessa finished breakfast with Gregory, but she was still worried about the situation on Nicholas’ end.
She remembered that her brother was still working with Nicholas’ company, so she called him up and asked, “Timothy, something came up at your brother-in-law’s company. Did you know that?”
“I do. Don’t worry, Tessa.”
Timothy had just comforted his sister when he was about to say something else. In the end, before he could say anything more, Tessa interrupted him.
“Your brother-in-law never returned last night, and I cannot rest easy. However, I know nothing about company matters, so I hope you can go over when you’re free to have a look at the situation and see if there’s anything you can help with.”
Timothy smiled. “I’m at his company right now. Don’t overthink it, Tessa. The problem is more or less resolved. Nicholas will be going back soon.”
Timothy wasn’t lying when he said that. When it was nearly noon, Nicholas came home, fatigued. When Tessa saw him, she hastily came forward and supported him, saying worriedly, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Nicholas didn’t want Tessa to worry too much, so he comforted her gently.
Sadly, Tessa didn’t believe him. She didn’t say anything about it, though. “Have something first. I asked the chef to keep some pumpkin soup warm for you.”
Nicholas nodded, then followed Tessa to the dining room.
After they sat at the table, Tessa saw the fatigue on the man’s face. Her heart ached for him as she said, “Have a good sleep after eating.”
“I know. I’ll be resting at home for the afternoon.”
Nicholas smiled as he responded. Then, he remembered something as he said gently, “Right, your brother will be coming over for dinner later. Tell the chef to make dishes he likes.”
Tessa nodded sweetly. While Nicholas was resting, Tessa played with Gregory in the living room. Later in the day, Andrew walked over to her and reported, “Miss Tessa, Mrs. Sawyer is here.”
As he was speaking, Stefania had already walked into the living room. When she saw Gregory sitting on the couch, a loving smile bloomed on her face. “Greg, Grandma is here.”
“Grandma, I wasn’t expecting you.” Gregory raised his head and looked at Stefania in surprise. Then, with his short little legs, he joyfully walked over to welcome her.
Stefania intimately took the little guy into her embrace. “Because I missed my dear grandson so much. Did you miss me?”
“Of course, I miss you a lot.”
“You little liar. If you missed me, then why didn’t you visit me?” Stefania pretended to be upset as she pinched Gregory’s nose.
Gregory stuck out his tongue mischievously, then said cutely, “But I just came back.”
As he spoke, he leaned in and kissed Stefania on the cheek. “Grandma, don’t be angry. You might get wrinkles.”
Seeing her adorable and considerate grandson, she couldn’t pretend to be mad any longer. She hugged Gregory as she cuddled with him.
Tessa stood at the side quietly, watching the two interact. There was a faint smile on her face.
After the two stopped, she finally greeted the visitor courteously, saying, “Mom.” Stefania looked at Tessa. The smile on her face receded a little, but still, she nodded in response.
