After Gregory heard her explanation, he couldn’t help feeling astonished. He never imagined that there were so many circumstances surrounding his birth, but he finally understood that his mother had not abandoned him on purpose. Hence, the dissonance in his heart vanished instantly.
Now that they had cleared up the misunderstanding, the relationship between mother and son became even closer than before. After chatting happily for some time, Tessa abruptly realized that she had not informed her younger brother about the truth. Thus, she immediately began looking for her phone. Nicholas watched her search for some time, then he inquired in puzzlement, “What’s wrong?”
‘I haven’t told Timothy about this. He should be awake by now, so I want to tell him.” While explaining herself, she prepared to dial her brother’s number. In her elation, she completely forgot that she had kept her first pregnancy a secret from Timothy.
Her response made him raise his eyebrows slightly. Then, he seemed to come up with an interesting idea. A wicked smile appeared on his face, and he began to dig a hole for his brother-in-law. “Actually… Timothy has known the truth from the beginning.”
As soon as Tessa heard those words, her temper flared. “Does everybody know? Was I the only person who was kept in the dark about this matter?” She shot a fierce glare at him.
Nicholas was just about to defend himself from her accusations when the video call with Timothy connected. “Tess, why did you call me so early in the morning? Did something happen?”
Timothy had already showered and dressed by this time. He appeared on the screen, dressed in casual and comfortable clothes. Before Tessa could answer, Gregory excitedly rushed over. “Uncle Tim, I just learned that you are my uncle! Just like Gordon, we are close relatives!”
“What are you saying? Since when have we not been close relatives?” Timothy looked at Gregory in amusement, but he immediately realized that something was not quite right.
At this moment, Gregory pouted and retorted, “Stupid Uncle Tim! When I said we were close relatives, I didn’t mean what you’re thinking right now. I meant that you’re my biological uncle! Mommy is my biological mother!”
As soon as Timothy heard those words, hel knew that his guess was correct. His sister’s strangled voice sounded in his ears. She was speaking each word through gritted teeth. “Timothy Reinhart, it would seem that you’ve been itching for a beating! How dare you conspire with your brother-in-law to fool me? Are you my brother or not?”
‘Tess, I’m sorry.” Looking at his furious sister, Timothy immediately cowered and admitted his mistake. Unfortunately, his apology was too late. She gave her younger brother a severe scolding.
While being scolded by his sister, Timothy suddenly noticed his brother-in-law standing nonchalantly by the side. A sudden idea popped up in his head, and he decided to push the blame onto somebody else. “Tess, I actually wanted to tell you when I first learned the truth. However, I decided against telling you after being persuaded by Nicholas. He told me he had his own arrangements.”
Upon hearing that statement, Tessa abruptly remembered what Nicholas told her last night. Although her temper subsided slightly, her anger did not go away completely.
She shot a fierce glare at her brother. “I’ll deal with you when you return!” After saying that, she turned to Nicholas and angrily declared, “For the next whole week, you can sleep by yourself. I’m going to sleep with Greg and Gordon.”
“That’s great!” Gregory danced and cheered. Likewise, Gordon was delighted by the news. After ending the video call, the two boys excitedly hogged Tessa’s attention. “Mommy, we’ll help you move your things. Since you’re going to stay for a week, you should move your toiletries over.”
Their excitement and initiative were only natural. After all, they rarely had the chance to sleep with their mother. Naturally, Tessa did not refuse their suggestion. Taking their hands, she walked away with an angry snort at Nicholas.
Gregory also had a triumphant look on his face. Seeing that, Nicholas raised his eyebrows slightly. The look in his eyes was dark. Sleep alone? Impossible!
That night, Tessa and her two sons played until very late at night before they finally went to bed. At this time, the tightly shut door was gently opened from the outside. The light from the corridor spilled into the room, and a dark silhouette appeared at the door. It was none other than Nicholas, who had been given the cold shoulder by Tessa.
Nicholas looked at the silhouettes on the bed with a warm look in his eyes. He carefully separated the two children who were sticking closely to Tessa. Then, he bent down and lifted the sleeping Tessa into his arms before he left the room.
