“What do we do, then? Many of us have already started showing symptoms,” the middle-aged alchemist asked.
“Take a few people and stay behind to make more detoxification pills, then catch up with us as quickly as you can,” Vincent instructed.
Fortunately, they all carried various mystical herbs, which made the process of creating detoxification pills quite simple.
Vincent, along with the remaining others, continued to pursue Jared.
After running for another stretch, Jared came to a halt.
He knew he couldn’t keep running anymore. If he continued, the poisons building up inside his body would only get worse.
By that time, there would be no need for Vincent and his crew to lift a finger. He would have fallen on his own.
Vincent could have his men prepare
detoxification pills, but Jared was on his own. He simply couldn’t manage to make a pill while on the run.
He had to eliminate Vincent and his men before the poison within him took its toll.
Seeing Jared come to a halt, his complexion not looking too good, Vincent couldn’t help but let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Why aren’t you running anymore? And here I thought you were immune to all poisons. But it seems you’ve been poisoned quite severely, haven’t you?”
About a dozen members of the Dupont family swiftly surrounded Jared.
Vincent casually tossed out a formation plate. With a humming sound, energy radiated in all directions, instantly enveloping several miles around.
This was a cloaking formation, designed specifically to conceal the energy and voices of the cultivators within the formation.
Jared would be left with no way to call for help.
Vincent did this to prevent anyone from noticing and coming over to compete with him.
Jared was quite the catch at the moment. Not to mention the hundred-year offering from the Demon Seal Alliance, he also possessed an ancient cauldron in his hands.
Vincent desired to claim all these things for himself.
Seeing Vincent shield off their surroundings, Jared gave a slight smile. “Are you afraid others will find out that you killed me?”
“Of course. You’re quite the catch now. Everyone wants a piece of you. However, many are afraid to offend Allardland, so they’ve been holding back. If I killed you right here and now, nobody would know who did it. So even if Allardland wanted to avenge you, they wouldn’t know who to look for,” Vincent said with great satisfaction.
“Are you not afraid of President Surrey and the others finding out about your actions?” Jared asked.
Vincent had been with Thaddeus and the others all this time, so his sudden departure would surely raise suspicions.
“Hahaha, so what if they find out? Besides, Thaddeus doesn’t have the time to deal with these matters. His ambition is to dominate the alchemists in the Ethereal Realm. He seeks control over the entire world of alchemy. I don’t have such grand ambitions. All I need is the cauldron in your possession and the hundred- year offering from the Demon Seal Alliance.”
Vincent laughed heartily.
Jared was slightly taken aback. “Dominate the alchemists in the Ethereal Realm? What does that mean?”
“Since you’re on the brink of death, I might as well tell you. We knew well in advance about the Sky Slasher Sect’s plan to attack Medicine God Island. Thaddeus has already formed an alliance with them. Once the Sky Slasher Sect takes control of Medicine God Island, Thaddeus will use their power to eliminate his rivals. When that time comes, who would dare to defy them? You imbecile, thinking we were only targeting the Zorn and Zeever families. How utterly naive.”
At that moment, Vincent was beyond pleased with himself, revealing all of Thaddeus’ plans.
In his view, Jared was undoubtedly doomed, so revealing anything to Jared didn’t matter at all.
A murderous intent flashed in Jared’s eyes. He hadn’t expected Thaddeus to be so cruel.
He had been fooled as well. It finally dawned on him why Thaddeus had been so enthusiastic about the Alchemist Fair on Medicine God Island.
