“Fenley, congratulations for making it to the top eight. You’re just one step away from winning the tournament,” Aurora said with a bright smile as Fenley returned to his seat.
“While the Sword Mastery Technique is impressive, Fenley’s Four Elements of God’s Technique is far superior. Jaxton might have lost, but he still deserves respect.” Alicia’s face beamed with pride.
Initially, Alicia was worried when she saw Jaxton’s remarkable Sword Mastery Technique. But her worries vanished once Fenley unleashed his Four Elements of God’s Technique. She knew the result of the match had already been decided.
“Defeating Jaxton was easy, but winning the tournament is still a long way to go.” Fenley’smiled and shook his head.
He was confident but not blind to the challenges ahead. Jaxton wasn’t one of the top names on the Legendary List. Though skilled, he wasn’t in the same league as the top contestants.
“Let’s take it one step at a time,” Aurora said with a smile. “If Glenn and Abigail end up fighting with each other in the top eight match, then your victory is almost guaranteed.”
Only two opponents could pose a significant challenge to Fenley in this Combat Tournament.
The first was Glenn, the top-ranked martial artist on the Legendary List. The second was Abigail, who was ranked second on the list. Both were shrouded in mystery and rarely made appearances, so no one knew their full capabilities.
However, their high rankings on the Legendary List indicated they were exceptionally skilled and represented the biggest hurdles on Fenley’s path to winning the tournament.
“That will be great, but we’ll see how the draw goes tomorrow. Sometimes luck plays a big part,” Fenley said with a grin.
He figured he had about a 50% chance against Glenn if they both were at their peak. It would be hard to predict the outcome in such a close match.
However, the situation could change drastically if Glenn and Abigail ended up battling each other tomorrow and both were significantly worn out or injured.
Of course, this was just Fenley’s wishful thinking. He knew it wasn’t wise to set high expectations. If luck wasn’t on his side and he faced Abigail first, Glenn might slip through to the next round. In that case, the outcome could be quite different.
The first match of the top 16 had concluded. After a short break, the second match began.
Oron stepped onto the battle ring and called out, “We’re starting the second match soon. Contestant number two and contestant number 15, please come up.”
As his words faded, Glenn slowly stood up and walked onto the stage with his sword. His cold demeanor, sharp gaze, and chilling presence immediately silenced the crowd. It was as if an invisible weight pressed down on everyone.
“Glenn is like a sword that’s just been drawn. He is far more intimidating than Jaxton,” Aurora observed. She frowned at the lone and aloof figure on the ring.
“The top rank on the Legendary List isn’t just for show. It’d be great if his opponent could push him to his limits and show us just how powerful Glenn is. “Alicia’s expression turned serious.
In his previous match, Glenn didn’t even need to fight. His mere presence had been enough to make his opponent forfeit in fear.
“I wonder who his opponent is this time.” Fenley scanned the surroundings for the other contestant.
A few seconds later, a tall, muscular man in combat gear stood up and strode confidently to the ring. His strong presence was evident in his sharp eyebrows and piercing gaze. He carried a silver spear that exuded formidable power.
“Isn’t that Levi Sullivan, branch master of Boulderthorn?” Fenley raised an eyebrow as he recognized the man.
Boulderthorn was a renowned guild with over 10,000 disciples and a strong presence throughout Balerno. The role of branch master was equivalent to the elder in Celestial Alliance.
Typically, branch masters were middle- aged men over 50, but Levi was an exception. At just 30 years old, he was in charge of a group of military forces, which spoke volumes about his abilities.
Aurora added, “I’ve heard about Levi. His spear techniques are nearly legendary. He has defeated his opponents in previous matches with just one strike, barely breaking a sweat. His strength is truly formidable.”
“So, Glenn is up against a formidable opponent?” Alicia remarked thoughtfully. “Great timing. Let’s see if Levi’s spear can reveal any secrets about Glenn’s sword. This match should test Glenn’s abilities.”
Levi’s spear skills were extraordinary. Even if he didn’t win, she hoped Levi managed to push Glenn to reveal his true abilities.
“I’m Levi Sullivan from Boulderthorn.” Levi stared at Glenn while holding his spear firmly. He looked fearless but filled with a fighting spirit.
The man before him was the top- ranked martial artist on the Legendary List. If he could defeat Glenn, he would take his place and be known worldwide.
“I’m not interested in who you are. Surrender now, or I won’t hold back,” Glenn said coldly. His gaze was as frosty as ice.
“Surrender? Hmph! You underestimate me.” Levi’s expression hardened. “I know you’re strong, but so am I. If it comes down to a fight to the death, you might not win.”
“Really? I hope you don’t regret your decision,” Glenn replied, his face still expressionless.
“Both contestants are ready, so let’s begin the match now,” Oron announced. With that, he stepped off the ring.
“Arrogant fool! Take this!” Levi shouted and charged forward with his spear raised. He was determined to make Glenn pay for underestimating him.
“Like bringing a knife to a gunfight.” Glenn remained calm as he raised his sword finger and pointed at Levi from afar.
A white beam of light shot from Glenn’s fingertip and struck Levi’s chest with blinding speed. His body convulsed, and his attack came to an abrupt halt.
In the next instant, he collapsed to the ground and died with his eyes wide open.
