At that moment, Jared had already emerged from the mist. It seemed as if something had obstructed the mist, preventing it from drifting toward the spot where the light curtain had just been.
Upon seeing Jared emerge, Viola hurriedly approached. “Jared, are you all right?”
“Yeah.” Jared nodded.
Thaddeus and his companions approached as well. They turned to Jared with a jovial expression and asked, “Mr. Chance, how did you manage to stay in the light curtain for so long? And how did you make it disappear so suddenly?”
“It was merely an arcane array. I have a bit of knowledge about it. I managed to break the arcane array from within, so the light curtain disappeared,” Jared said with a slight smile.
He didn’t mention the part about using the Divine Cauldron to refine those strange energies.
With a glint of greed in his eyes, Vincent asked, “Mr. Chance, could we have a look at the cauldron you just put away? I think it’s quite unique.”
“Yeah, let us take a good look. I didn’t expect there to be such an excellent cauldron in the Ethereal Realm,” Ernesto quickly chimed in.
Jared hadn’t anticipated that his Divine Cauldron would be spotted by these people. However, if they wished to look, he didn’t mind letting them. It would serve as a good opportunity for them to broaden their horizons.
Just as Jared was about to agree, ready to bring out the Divine Cauldron, Viola tugged at him. Her face was pale as she said, “Jared, I’m not feeling well. Can you check on me…”
“Viola, what’s wrong?”
Jared hurriedly stepped forward to support Viola, channeling a surge of spiritual energy into her body.
Viola said telepathically, “Whatever you do, don’t reveal your cauldron. These guys are no good. They were just about to harm us earlier, but luckily the light curtain disappeared and you showed up. Otherwise, they would’ve attacked.”
Jared furrowed his brows.
He wondered what Thaddeus and his group aimed to achieve by targeting Viola and Sigurd.
They had no grudges or grievances.
Moreover, with Viola’s and Sigurd’s capabilities, they posed no threat to them at all.
However, since Viola had given her warning, there was no way Jared would bring out the Divine Cauldron again.
“It’s just an ordinary cauldron, nothing interesting to see. Now that the light curtain has disappeared, we should hurry up the mountain. I must be on my way too,” Jared said while supporting Viola.
Thaddeus gave a nod. “Mr. Chance, it seems this is where we part ways…”
Jared and his group departed, heading into the mist.
Felipe and Freya followed closely behind.
“President Surrey, what should we do? Do we just let him leave?”
Anxiety washed over Vincent’s face.
He had his eyes set on Jared’s Divine Cauldron. He really wanted to get his hands on it.
“Let him go for now. Once he reunites with the Zorn and Zeever families, we’ll take them down all at once… If the Zorn and Zeever families joined forces with other Alchemist Guilds, we’d be in a tough spot,” Thaddeus said.
Vincent sighed, but there was simply nothing he could do.
The group ventured into the mist, beginning their ascent up the mountain.
“Mr. Chance, why does this mist feel strange to me?”
As they were moving forward, Sigurd suddenly spoke out.
“What do you mean?”
Jared’s face was filled with surprise..
“I feel it too. This mist appears to be poisonous, though its toxicity is weak and erodes slowly. We’ve only been walking for a short while, yet I already feel somewhat fatigued. And I can’t seem to summon the spiritual energy within me,” Viola said.
Felipe and Freya also chimed in, “There’s definitely something off about this mist. We’re also feeling uneasy and short of breath. It’s really uncomfortable…”
