98. He Owed Her His Heart
Heidi’s mouth hung open, looking stunned and speechless. Zach, who had just caught himself from falling, almost fell down again.
“Let’s cancel the divorce, Heidi,” Lucas repeated. “I want you to come back.”
Lucas had been acting weird ever since she went to his Villa and now. Believing that he must be sick, Heidi didn’t want to believe her ears.
“I’m not joking.” Lucas gave her a serious look, understanding her shock. “Heidi, I want you to come back.”
He’d long realized that he couldn’t live freely nor have peace of mind without Heidi around. Ever since he proposed the divorce, things had just been going wrong after the other.
Only Heidi could fill up the empty void in his heart. She took care of him wholeheartedly.
Lucas didn’t realize what he had until he’d lost them all.
Heidi finally recovered from her shock, hearing him repeat the words again and again.
Then she threw her head back and laughed, her eyes tearing up. “You want me back?” She exclaimed. ” Where do you want to keep me? Beside you or on top of Tracy’s head.”
“Forget about Tracy. You’ll stay beside me, Heidi.”
Lucas only owed Tracy his life. But Heidi, his heart.
Heidi laughed until her stomach ached. She wanted to believe this was a dream no, a nightmare.
“What do you say?” Lucas stared at her hopefully. “Let’s go back to the Villa. Zach Olsen or Steve Anderson, none of them can take care of you the way I will.”
“And by taking care of me, you mean turning me into your doormat, pushing me here and there like a robot, shouting at me and humiliating me the way you please?” Heidi folded her hands, raising a brow at him.
“That is all in the past.” Lucas took her hands. “Heidi, we’ll start a new life. I’ll give you whatever you want, and I’ll-”
“Let go.” Heidi swung her hands free from his hold, her eyes turning cold. ” Lucas Harrison, aren’t you gutsy? You think you can throw me out easily and then expect me to come back to you because you want me to?”
“Don’t you want to?” Lucas looked confused.
“Ha!” Heidi laughed again. “Of course, I’m petty in your eyes, always at your beck and call. Listen to me, Lucas Harrison…”
Her smile faded and she enunciated each word. “I will start a new life, but without you.”
“This is so good to be true, I don’t want to believe it’s real.” Zach whistled. ” I’m confused, Heidi. Was it you that fell into the swimming pool or Lucas Harrison?”
“Watch your words.” Lucas frowned at his ridicule. “No one invited you into this conversation.”
“We’ll, I’ve invited myself.” Zach pulled Heidi behind him. “Did you just say you want Heidi back?”
“So what? She’s my wife.”
“Let’s get out of here, Zach,” Heidi said in a low tone, evidently angry. “Let’s go or I might do something we’ll all regret.”
“Zach Olsen, stay away from her,” Lucas warned.
But Zach no longer had time to entertain him, sensing the warning bells in Heidi’s statement.
“Heidi, come back here.”
Ignoring Lucas’s call, Heidi followed Zach into his car, and they drove off. As the car drove down the city, Lucas’s words echoed in her mind, and her heart pounded uncontrollably.
“Heidi, what’s wrong?” Zach called out to her, finding her silence disturbing. He looked away from the road and stared at her side profile as she stared out of the window.
Zach panicked and he quickly pulled over on the side of the road. “Heidi, don’t tell me you’re crying for that jerk.
You didn’t fall for his words, did you?”
“Why should I?” Heidi sniffled. “Lucas thinks I’m a fool. Did he think that I would jump at the news that he wants me back?”
“That’s right. You’re not a cheap commodity. Lucas Harrison is dreaming too far.”
Not only was Heidi mad at Lucas. His actions just reminded her of what a fool she’d been.
Zach was about to restart the car when his phone rang.
“Bad news – Bad news, Mr. Olsen!” His assistant sounded frantic. “Who did we offend again? The AG Group will soon bite the dust if you don’t return quickly.”
