“Reuben, can you go and get some towels and a glass of water for Evelyn …” My beta boldly demands of my mate, the Alpha King.
“Why can’t Cassandra go?” Reuben grunts as he wipes my brow with a cold wet flannel.
“Because I’m trained and need to stay.” She replies, her attitude completely dominating the room.
This may be Reuben and mine’s bedroom but right now it is now a birthing suite, and she and Noah were in charge.
As soon as Reuben leaves the room, Noah turns to me, cupping my face.
“I need to check you and haven’t got time for Reuben to attack me.” Noah’s voice enters my mind full well knowing that Reuben may be out of the room but his ears were still trained on this room.
We work quickly, I have no problems with Noah assisting with the birth. He did last time. But also knowing that Cassandra was here was putting me more at ease. Without her, it would have been two males fighting.
“Okay, you are almost ready to start pushing. Did you not feel any contractions?” Cassandra asks as she helps me sit up slightly.
“I did but I just thought it was the baby kicking out. It’s a little tight in there now.”
“Here….towels galore…” Reuben walks back in with a pile of towels that he leaves at the edge of the bed for Cassandra.
“Evelyn is ready to start pushing.”
Cassandra updates Reuben in a rather nonchalant manner. Yet her eyes refuse to meet Reuben.
Noah also seems to have found something very interesting to read in my notes. Which he just had a feeling to bring along with them as they visited for the surprise baby shower.
“And how do we know that?” Reuben seethes through gritted teeth. I can feel his possessiveness through the mate bond starting to overwhelm is controlled senses.
“Reuben its fine, I’m fully dialated. They just needed to check.”
“They?” His chest puffs up, his shoulders squaring out. If I didn’t need Noah so much right now I would tell him to run.
“Will you behave, or do I need to fetch Nate or Pierce to restrain you?” I mind- link Reuben, trying to bring him down a notch. Nate had also visited but I hadn’t gotten around to see him, he gave me a passing good luck wish as I was whisked back into the house.
“That’s it Evelyn, one last push.” Cassandra tries to spur me on.
With one last push, I feel the baby come out of me. My own hands catching him before bringing him up to my chest.
“Oh Evelyn, he’s beautiful.” I hear Cassandra congratulate us as Noah continues to observe my statistics. Cassandra moves quickly to clean him quickly before letting me bond with him.
I hold him protectively to my chest, his mouth already starting to find milk. As soon as the baby’s cord is cut, I hand him over to Reuben, my heart tightening at the sight.
The Alpha King holding his new born baby boy to his topless chest. The most powerful man in this land, holding the most dainty of beings.
Reuben’s eyes look at me before his lips crash onto my lips, his love for me and our children radiating through the bond.
“Do we have a name?” Noah asks, as he takes a peek at our son himself. His hand on Reuben’s shoulder.
“We’ve discussed a few…” I breathe out, my adrenaline now starting to wain, my body calling out for rest.
“Which one did you like?” Reuben asks me, his thumb now gently brushing our baby’s cheek. So softly as if he might break.
“I liked them all, you pick.” I offer, squirming slightly as I readjust my position.
“You are sure?”
“Yes, I trust you.” I beam up at him, his own eyes watching my every move before going back in our son.
“This is…Angel Bright-Carmore.”
