We both jump on top of him at the same time, both pinning him to the ground.
“You would have killed me….” I gasp out. He would have killed me, if I hadn’t of reacted quickly enough. My peripheral vision having also noticed something at the side of me move.
“Pity I missed…” He snarls out at me as Reuben’s hands grip his throat, pulling him up and against the cave wall.
“That’s my wife you piece of shit.”
Reuben throws Odin’s head against the cave wall with full force, the smell of blood perfuming the area.
“Reuben…” I push on the mind-link but he is blocking me out.
“Reuben…you need witnesses, he needs to be questioned…for Liberty’s sake at least.” I whisper into his ear.
“Liberty?” Odin gasps, just barely able to breathe from Reuben’s right grip.
“Yes your daughter, the one you pretended had fucking died. You cheated on Mum with another woman .” Reuben’s jaw completely tenses, his body shaking.
“Your mother was weak…”
“Bull shit, you made her that way. Years of verbal abuse.” Reuben throws Odin into the air, before moving quickly to catch him mid air and throw him down to the floor. Odin’s back cracking from the impact.
“Reuben…you need witnesses….” I yell at him through the mind-link, this time his block gone.
“I don’t need witnesses sweetheart, he can’t leave this cave alive.”
He’s right but this could open up a can of worms for us. I was just trying to prevent further bloodshed.
“You poisoned her…kept her wolf hidden, why?” I ask Odin. This was most likely the last time I could ask him this question.
“Her mother was meant to leave the money to me….she left it to her. I had to do something.”
“Why take her wolf away?”
“Her wolf would have tried to protect her.” He sneers at me, as he tries to move his neck. Reuben giving him no movement to room whatsoever, not even a millimetre.
“She was a child…you’ve ruined her bond with her wolf.” I scream out at him, my own anger at this man coming forward.
He’s broken a sacred bond between the skin and wolf side, for his own greedy needs.
He should have just retired gracefully. He would have been a king maker, a mentor to Rex. A loving grandparent to him and Elspeth…to our baby.
He should have nurtured them, helped them to flourish…instead he kidnapped them and put their lives at risk.
“Reuben….”
“Don’t you dare fucking suggest it…” His voice growls at me through the mind-link.
“What?”
“That he should be treated like a rogue
“I’m not, he doesn’t deserve a second chance. But are you willing to fight against any uproar from how we handled this, from how your own alliance will respond. Without a trial in front of your own council? He was an Alpha King after all.”
“Sweetheart, I don’t give a fuck. They can take the kingdom away from me for all I care. But as long as he remains alive he is a threat to you and the children. If I lost any of you I wouldn’t survive.” He means every word of this. His bond opening up to me even more, sharing his love for me and the children.
“Then kill him, let it be done.” I nod to him, giving him my approval.
Odin squirms in Reuben’s hold. His eyes darting to the cave entrance as he starts to yell out…for someone to come to his aid. For one of the warriors to assist him.
But he is alone.
Totally alone.
“I’m going to enjoy this…” Reuben glares at his own father in the eyes.
Not taking his eyes off him once as he plunges his hand into his chest. Slowly Reuben makes sure to take his time as he then pulls out his heart.
We both watch Odin’s eyes as his life leaves him. His soul now being judged by the Moon Goddess herself.
Reuben throws his heart to the floor, the loud thud ringing out in the cave.
I pick up the sword that Odin tried to kill me with. A Red Stone sword displaying the royal emblem crown with a wolf howling to the red moon.
With the mighty deathly weapon within my hands, I plunge it into his removed heart.
For my parents.
Finally feeling closure for their deaths, knowing Vicky and Odin have now perished. Paying the ultimate punishment for eternity.
Reuben and I finally ridding this world of such evil presence.
