Reuben POV
It didn’t take us long to prepare a team to descend on the Sickle Peak pack’s secrèt meeting. Alpha Renard will regret the day he tried to cross me and my mate.
The plan is to set up near the pack borders and carry out surveillance before heading into the pack. I want to photograph and document every single person that attends that meeting because once we arrive they will try to run, their tails between their legs.
“Have you contacted the rogue we let go?” I’m careful to mind-link Nate who is sat behind me in the car. A car with my wife and her beta also in it.
“Yes Alpha, I’ve told him to make his way over. I offered to make him some fake ID but he texted back to say he didn’t need it, that it wouldn’t be a problem.”
“He’s a cocky little shit isn’t he?” I mind-link back. Cocky yes…little no. There was something about him that unsettled my wolf.
I couldn’t put my finger on it but it felt… I don’t know, kind of unworldly.
“You could say that. Is it wrong that I find myself secretly rooting for him.” Nate laughs, but stops himself when Evelyn turns to scowl at him.
“I thought we agreed no mind- linking?” She continues the scowl to the front seat, to me in the driver’s seat.
“No, you agreed that you and Noah wouldn’t mind-link. I’ve made no such promise.”
“Reuben…” She sighs in a frustrated manner at me but I don’t care, I liked teasing her.
“I can drop you off here if you like? Your warriors can return you back to Silver Moon?” I quirk an eyebrow at her. Actually that wasn’t such a bad idea, maybe her coming was a mistake.
“Dick…” She mutters at me as she crosses her arms and looks out the side window. Her hormones were all over the place at the moment but apparently
I’m not allowed to say that to her, apparently she can’t help it and I’m a dickhead for assuming the second box of chocolates at night time is because the baby wants them…that the baby is craving chocolate. A baby is craving chocolate?
“As if I would…” I whisper to her as I pick up her hand and kiss the back of it. Continuing to hold it while I drive. No of course I wouldn’t.
I don’t like Evelyn being here, attending this raid on the meeting. My wolf is driving me insane trying to make me change my mind, to keep her and our unborn young safe. But what can I do? She’s an alpha too, she commands warriors…she has every right to be here.
I’ll just have to keep her close. She was my everything and I knew she was safest with me. Even if we were potentially entering the gates of hell.
We reach around two miles away from the Sickle Peak pack grounds and set up a surveillance section. We launched drones to monitor from the sky above as well as use binocular type devices to watch and photograph all the alphas attending the meeting.
I want every treacherous alpha on camera as evidence because they will try and deny it later on.
Once the meeting takes place, I’ll launch the raid and catch them all red handed. Some will try and run, hence the photographic evidence. I need something to nail on these bastards later.
Renard was one of my Father’s strongest supporters. If anyone knew of his location it would be him.
The fact that this meeting was on his pack confirmed to me that he not only knew where Father was, but that he was prepared to carry out whatever orders he had be given.
Orders that would be against my rule, dangerous towards my family and would create conflict during a somewhat peaceful shifter community.
