The news of Liam’s resignation spread throughout the entire Jardin Corporation. Among those most emotional about it was Blake.
In the office, Blake, holding some meeting documents, walked up to Liam and questioned him, “Why did you resign? At first, I didn’t believe it. I merely went upstairs for a meeting, and when I came back, I found out that you resigned.
“Liam, are you really cooperating with Cecilia?”
Liam replied, “Blake, my return to the Xander family is inevitable, it’s not because of Cecilia or you. Do you really think I’m that kind of a person? Do you think I have some ulterior motive in doing this and then forcing you to marry me?”
“We’ve known each other for so long and you still don’t trust me!”
Blake hesitated. She did not know how to respond. Her eyes were filled with regret as she ran her hand through her forehead. “Liam, I didn’t mean that… I’m s-sorry. My emotions have been off lately, and I’ve been imagining things. I’m just curious why you suddenly decided to resign.”
Liam replied, “I’ve told you this before; I won’t stay at StartReading forever. I have my own things to do.”
Blake asked, “W-What is it? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Liam gave Blake a thoughtful look. “I did tell you, but you’ve never remembered what I said.
“I’m going back now. I’ve handed the remaining work to Olivia. She’ll take over my position.”
Blake had mixed feelings as she watched him leave. Liam was the only person she trusted the most in this company. Now that he had left, Blake suddenly felt lost.
She said, “Liam, what about the marriage?”
Liam stopped outside the door. “Blake, that was my one-sided wish. It has nothing to do with you. I won’t force you.” He turned around and looked at Blake. “No matter what, he’s still my father. He’s sick, and I can’t just abandon him.
“I won’t go back on what I’ve said before. I’m always on your side.”
Liam finally left, leaving Blake feeling like she was fighting alone. Olivia reported to the company in the afternoon.
At night, in the villa on the hill, Cecilia wore a sexy lace dress, waiting for a man to arrive.
