The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 869

As they stood next to Madelyn, Mya and the maids had not expected that she would speak like that to her husband, as if they were complete strangers to each other.

Mya suddenly felt bad for Madelyn.

‘How could he lock Madelyn up here and go shopping with another woman?’ Mya thought to herself.

Mya got angry and snatched the phone from Madelyn’s hand.

“Ptui, you suck.” She scolded Zach and abruptly hung up the call.

Margaret sensed that something was not right and immediately sent the other maids away.

Then, Mya grabbed Madelyn’s arm and said, “Madelyn, I suddenly feel so sorry for you! You never wanted to stay here, right?”

A faint smile appeared on Madelyn’s face. “I’m already used to this. Don’t worry.”

“But you don’t seem genuinely happy. You always seem a little sad whenever we’re together.”

Madelyn’s smile faded as she lowered her gaze, seemingly thinking about something.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can go shopping with you anymore.”

Madelyn did not cry. Instead, Mya was the one who started tearing up. She suddenly hugged Madelyn and said, “Madelyn, if you don’t like staying here, why don’t you leave?

“If you’re not happy, you can go far away from here.

“Although I don’t like it when you suddenly disappear and cut off contact with everyone else, I still want you to be happy.”

Mya had noticed it long ago.

Madelyn would often sit there in a daze, staring blankly at the garden.

Mya figured that if she was not there to keep Madelyn company, she would just be a pet to Zach.

“Mya, it’s fine. I’m okay. Don’t worry about me.” Madelyn said with a faint smile as she wiped away Mya’s

tears.

The bodyguards came back from outside and said to Madelyn, “Mrs. Jardin, Mr. Jardin said that you can go out, but you have to let us follow you.”

“How is this any different from watching a prisoner?” Mya said angrily.

Madelyn did not say anything, yet Mya was the one who retorted.

“It’s alright, then. Never mind.” Madelyn said.

She turned to Mya and said, “I’m going to make some macarons. Do you want some?”

Mya cried and smiled at the same time as she said, “Yes, I want a big one.”

It had been some time since Madelyn made macarons, and she was even starting to forget what they tasted like.

The bodyguard informed Zach about what Madelyn had said, but Zach just kept quiet.

Madelyn prepared a table full of food and Mya slept in the same room as her that night.

There was still a plate of uneaten macarons on the nightstand.

Mya hugged Madelyn and fell asleep. Even without covering themselves with a blanket, Madelyn could feel the warmth coming from Mya’s body, as well as Dalton’s as she slept between them.

Eventually, it got so hot that Madelyn suddenly woke up. She stared at the ceiling above her, wide awake.

She was unable to sleep, so she decided to get up. She draped a shawl over herself and walked to the art studio.

Ever since returning from overseas, Madelyn had rarely gone to her art studio. However, she would occasionally check her work emails and try to help out as much as she could.

She switched on the lights, and walked towards the half-finished painting on the easel.

As she was about to start painting, she suddenly heard footsteps coming from the hallway.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
